Celebrating a Lifetime of Excellence in Maternal Healthcare

SASOG is proud to honour Prof Justus Hofmeyr with the Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising his outstanding contributions to maternal healthcare, research and innovation.

With over 470 research publications, Prof Hofmeyr has dedicated his career to advancing evidence-based maternal healthcare, particularly in low-resource settings.

His pioneering work in labour induction, postpartum haemorrhage management and maternal health has made a lasting impact both locally and internationally.

The award was accepted on his behalf by his colleague, Dr Catherine Mpehle, at the SASOG 2026 Congress Awards Dinner.
